Ask Perfect Bridal: Do You Need A Veil For Your Big Day?
Wedding ceremonies have existed for the same amount of time as the concept of marriage. The western wedding gown however as we know it – hasn’t always been white and the norm for brides. In fact, once-in-a-lifetime extravagance of white bridal gowns and the veil is a modern invention, only about 180 years old!
Today the veil is just as much a part of wedding ceremonies as the garter, bouquet and 3-tiered cake however young, modern brides are finding newer ways to express their individuality while sticking to tradition. Are you confused whether to don the veil on your big day or not? Consider the following:
Your Personal Style
Wear a veil or not, it is your choice! It isn’t compulsory to wear a veil on your wedding day so you won’t be breaking tradition. Yes – you’ll have to risk being possessed by evil spirits (why veils were worn in olden times) but you can have your wedding at a church! If you still can’t make up your mind, try out some veils that go with your Donna Morgan wedding dress and see if you like them or not.
Location of the Wedding
This is really important. While most modern veil styles are short and easily manageable it can still become an issue if you are having an outdoor wedding. Expect it’s going to be a windy day on your wedding? Skip the veil and choose a better alternative like:
- Beautiful flower crown
- Gleaming tiara
- Scattered jewels
- Pretty birdcage fascinator
You Could Pick a Detachable Veil
Many veils are designed to be easily detached when needed. In fact many brides choose detachable veils because of the reveal during the wedding ceremony and for wedding pictures. Detachable veils are more convenient and can be taken off when you are about to hit the dance floor. Again, choose to wear a detachable veil only if it goes with your wedding gown!
Just as there are many wedding dress styles available for brides-to-be, veils of different styles and lengths can also be found easily. You don’t need to don a really long, cathedral-length veil to feel like a bride! And as Randy Fenoli of Say Yes to the Dress fame says, ”Any kind of veil works – as long it does the intended job”. Before saying yes to anything else, look at these Casablanca bridal gowns and say yes to Perfect Bridal!
